Interim Head Golf Professional - Duke Trombetti

Duke Trombetti landed in the golf industry 9 years ago when he decided on a career change. Always a golfer, Duke received his PGA Membership in 2014 and is a certified club fitter. Duke is from Columbus, Ohio and graduated from the same high school as Jack Nicklaus (Upper Arlington High School). Golf was in his stars.

Interim First Assistant Golf Professional/PGA Apprentice - Phillip Gabes

After a shoulder injury ended a college baseball career, Phillip Gabes turned his attention to golf. He graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a Bachelor of Business Administration and is currently a PGA Apprentice. Phillip proudly held the title of Employee of the Month from September to December 2014. 

Golf Shop Merchandise Buyer - Billie DeCover

Billie DeCover has been in the golf industry for 20 years. She is a member of the LPGA as a teaching and club professional and has worked with the Nike Golf School and Camps, as well as the Symbiotic Golf school where she ran the Deerfield Beach Children’s Program. She moved into retail as a National Sales Manager for Astra, a high end women’s golf clothing line that took her to all the major golf market PGA shows to work with reps and oversee sales. Billie also worked with Lord Daniel Sportswear in product development and design. Billie has been the buyer at Boca Grove since 2015.

Director of Golf Course Operations - Rafael Barajas

Rafael Barajas joined Boca Grove at the end of 2015. Rafael comes to Boca Grove with a total of 35 years in the golf industry. He has been a member of the GCSAA for 30 years and Certified Golf Course Superintendent for the past 25 years. He is the Past President of the Golf Course Superintendents of Southern California, Past President of the California Golf Course Superintendents Association and a board member of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America for the past 5 years. Originally from Colima, Mexico, Rafael immigrated to the US at the age of 14 only knowing 2 words of English. He followed in his brother’s footsteps and went to work on a golf course working as part of the maintenance crew at a municipal course in the San Fernando Valley. By the age of 20, Rafael was the superintendent at the Recreation Park Golf Course in Long Beach, Calif. Lacking in formal education in turfgrass maintenance and agronomy, he spent the following six years in professional development courses and seminars to become a Certified Golf Course Superintendent in 1990. In the mid-1990’s Rafael became the superintendent at Hacienda Golf Club in Southern California where he was for the last 20 years before coming to Boca Grove.
